Homebuilder supports Cranleigh businesses with 'Coffee on Us' initiative

Homebuilder Miller Homes Southern is giving back to the community with the launch of an initiative to support an independent business and a community group in Cranleigh.

Through Miller Homes’ ‘Coffee on Us’ offer, members of local women’s running club, the Cranleigh Sunflowers, will be able to enjoy a free hot drink and a slice of cake from Cornwell’s Celebration Cakes – based in the heart of Cranleigh village centre.

Vouchers from the cafés have been purchased by Miller Homes and gifted to members of the running club to treat them to something special, while also providing much-needed support to a locally-owned business during what has been an extremely difficult 18 months.

Simon Cornwell, owner of Cornwell’s Celebration Cakes, commented:

We’re delighted that our café was selected as part of Miller Homes’ ‘Coffee on Us’ offer. It’s heartwarming to see their support of our small business, especially in Cranleigh, which is home to a number of independent retailers and dining establishments.

Lucy Bushnell, founder of Cranleigh Sunflowers, said:

We’re delighted to be back running again after our team was unable to do so together for so long. Exercise is crucial for our mental health and wellbeing, and doing so in a group can really help to keep people motivated and engaged. We would like to thank Miller Homes for selecting our running club for ‘Coffee on Us’, and we can’t wait to use these vouchers to socialise over a hot drink and a cake after a long run.

Katrina Crawford, Sales and Marketing Director for Miller Homes Southern, which recently created a new neighbourhood at its Cranleigh Grange development, hopes the initiative will encourage people to shop locally. She said:

Community is something that is really important to us. We launched our Cranleigh Grange neighbourhood in 2020 and have seen first-hand the struggles many businesses in the area have faced in the wake of COVID-19. Although the vouchers only go a small way towards helping these two great organisations, we hope the message behind ‘Coffee On Us’ will mean the people of Cranleigh will continue to do everything they can to support their local shops, cafés and restaurants.
