Bridleway closed as filming resumes on Winterfold

Bridleway closed as filming resumes on WinterfoldSurrey County Council is closing a public bridleway near Cranleigh for one month, as filming resumes in Winterfold Forest.

The Temporary Prohibition of Traffic Order 2022 applies to Public Bridleway 205 between Shere and Cranleigh.

A map of the closed section shows the closure between the junction with Public Footpaths 223 and 225 (Grid ref. 506642 143188) in a northerly direction to the junction with Public Bridleway 205A.

This section of the bridleway is closed to “all traffic on foot or any other means”

According to Surrey County Council, “The Order is necessary by reason of danger to the public due to works taking place on and next to the path related to filming.”

The public bridleway runs through a part of Winterfold known locally as Larch Valley, a popular filming location that featured in Jurassic World 3 and The Mummy.

The closure order comes into force on Monday 14th March, for a period of one month or until completion of the works, if earlier.

It applies while the relevant notices are displayed.

However, The Secretary of State for Transport can extend that period of closure if required.

The temporary closure will only be in operation when appropriate road traffic signs are displayed on site by the County Council or an authorised person acting on its behalf. Access to properties will not be affected.

Cyclists and horse riders will need to follow a diversion from the southern (Shere) end of the closure:

Proceed in a southerly direction along Public Bridleway 205 to the junction with Public Bridleway 224. Turn left onto Public Bridleway 224 and proceed in a north-westerly then northerly direction to the junction with Public Bridleway 205a. Turn right onto Public Bridleway 205a proceed in an easterly direction to reach the northern end of the closure.

The alternative route for cyclists and equestrians from the northern end of the closure will be the reverse of the route described above.

The alternative route for pedestrians from the southern end of the closure will be:

Proceed in a north-westerly direction along Public Footpath 223 to the junction with Public Bridleway 224. Turn left onto Public Bridleway 224 and proceed in a northerly direction to the junction with Public Bridleway 205a. Turn right onto Public Bridleway 205a proceed in an easterly direction to reach the northern end of the closure.

The alternative route for pedestrians from the northern end of the closure will be the reverse of the route described above.
