Record year for Jigsaw Run 10k

Record year for Jigsaw Run 10k

More than 500 runners registered to take part in the 8th annual Jigsaw Run 10k at Dunsfold Park this morning.

The event, sponsored by Informed Choice Independent Financial Planners, raises money for the Jigsaw Trust.

Runners were treated to a dry and misty morning, with the fog lifting in time for the race start, revealing the mile-long runway ahead.

First across the finish line was Tim Bartholomew of 26.2 RC, in 35:10. He was followed by Nick Tearle of Guildford & Godalming AC in 35:20, and Michal Blaszczuk in 35:21.

The first lady was Elspeth Turner of Horsham Blue Star Harriers in 38:06 (12th place overall).

The full set of results can be found here.

A total of 416 runners completed the course, a new event record.

Since the event started in 2012, it has raised more than £60,000 for Jigsaw Trust, working with children and adults affected by autism.

Based in Surrey, the Trust oversees Jigsaw CABAS School, JigsawPlus Specialist Day Services for Adults and Jigsaw Social Enterprises as well as Training, Consultancy and Outreach services.

Race sponsor Martin Bamford from Informed Choice commented:

It feels like only yesterday that an invitation to tour Jigsaw School led to the creation of the Jigsaw Run. To raise such a significant amount for the charity over the past 8 years is an incredible testament to the hard work of the volunteers who help each year and, of course, the runners for taking part.

While this appears to be the last time we can hold the Jigsaw Run at Dunsfold Park, we are working with the Jigsaw Trust to relocate the race to another local venue for 2020.

Well done to all of the runners today and thank you to the volunteers for making the race possible.
