Experienced telecoms director on a ‘mission’ to expand Cranleigh's Box Broadband

A highly skilled commercial director has joined a leading Surrey broadband company to help transform its sales strategy and recruit “local talent”.

Steve Garrood has been appointed as the new Commercial Director for Box Broadband in Cranleigh, and he is now on a mission to increase the company’s workforce from 60 to 100 employees by the end of the year, with the business already adding 30 staff in the first half of the year.

With more than 30 years’ experience working in the telecoms industry, Steve is now focused on building the brand and reputation of the Cranleigh-based internet provider.

Steve said:

Our people make us different. We are building the business with local staff, and we are committed to maintain that even if we are globally connecting our customers.

I want to make Box a great place to work. Currently, we are deep in the trenches and building the foundations for this to happen.

We are on a mission to recruit local talent and make a difference across Surrey and Sussex.

In his new role, Steve is also hoping to achieve award-winning status for Box Broadband. In addition, he aims to install a Box router in 30 per cent of homes across Surrey and Sussex within the next three years.

He said:

Winning the Best Rural Internet Provider Award is a personal goal of mine. To win this prestigious accolade it will come back to our people, our performance and putting our customers at the heart of everything we do.

When he is not strengthening and motivating the Box Broadband team, Steve spends his time training for running marathons and motocross racing, with the goal to be as fast as his eldest daughter Jaymee a current team GB rider.

Box Broadband is a Surrey-based company that provides employment opportunities for local people to help build in areas where the internet is poor. Currently delivering in Surrey and Sussex, Box has plans for expansion as it continues to grow.

Steve added:

Here at Box Broadband, we differentiate from competitors as our service is delivered purely through the latest fibre optic network technology, built by local teams, installed by local team sand supported by local based teams.

We are proud to be connecting communities to the internet who have been left out of the loop.

Box Broadband has recently launched discounts on all of its products. This permanent price change includes reducing the cost of its 300Mb/s and 1Gb/s products. To mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, Box will also be offering free installation and providing three months of free broadband to new customers.

Co-founded by Graham Sargood, Box Broadband has been actively building its fibre optic networks in Surrey and Sussex with a growing customer case of residential and business users for its Full Fibre services.

The internet provider has delivered £10 million to Cranleigh, through the employment of local people to deliver digital inclusion for hard-to-reach areas, sponsorship of community events and regeneration of the high street, providing ultrafast internet to the town’s independent retailers.

Box differentiates from competitors through its commitment to connect rural communities, delivering a customer-focused service using the latest fibre optic technology to transform the digital lives of its customers.
